Bruce & Sons Firewood Our Story

A Harrowsmith family business serving Kingston area

campers, pitmasters, and wood burners since 2020.

The Story that Started Bruce & Sons Firewood

Tom Bruce started this with his sons, Jacob and Josh, in 2020 because they'd rather be outside working than sitting behind a desk. Tom spent years in the barbecue world—nine of them as an operating partner at T2 BBQ in Kingston, smoking award-winning brisket and ribs with wood he sourced himself. He knows what competition-grade cooking wood looks like, what species burn clean, and what chunks throw the right smoke.

Before that, Tom taught and picked up his chainsaw certifications along the way. Safety matters when you're processing wood, and so does knowing what you're selling. The boys handle a lot of the heavy work now—splitting, loading, and delivering with the custom crane trailer Tom built to drop totes right at campsites without tearing up your site.

You're not getting wood from some guy with a pickup truck who measured a "cord" by eyeballing it. You're getting honest volume, proper seasoning, and someone who actually answers the phone when you call. Tom's a neighbor and a fellow local, not a franchise operation out of Toronto. If the wood's not dry or the delivery goes sideways, you know exactly where to find him.

Our Process and our Promise

Real BBQ Background

Tom spent nine years as an operating partner at T2 BBQ, smoking award-winning brisket and ribs with the same wood we sell now.

Most firewood suppliers are just moving wood—Tom actually knows what species burn clean, what throws the right smoke, and what chunks work for competition-level results. You're getting cooking wood sourced by someone who's used it professionally, not someone's scrap pile.

No BS, Just Dry Wood

Our heating firewood is seasoned a full year minimum—not "semi-seasoned" green wood with a marketing spin.

When we say 64 cubic feet in a tote or 198 in a dump load, that's measured, not eyeballed by some guy with a pickup truck. Custom sizing available if your firebox needs something other than standard 16-inch cuts. You know exactly what you're getting before it shows up.

We Bring It to Your Site

The custom-built crane trailer drops large tote bags right at your campsite without tearing up the ground or making you haul wood from the parking lot.

Enough for a week or two of fires delivered exactly where you need it. Most suppliers won't bother—we built the equipment specifically so we could. Local operation, Tom answers the phone, and you know where to find us if something goes sideways.
